H.O.P.E. was established to help to get homeless people off the streets permanently. We help any homeless person that wants to be helped. We give our best, not just our charity.
Read the story of how we started.
Our goal is to provide new, long-lasting solution to old problems. Experiencing homelessness first hand is our way of getting as close as possible to the issues. Our experiences have shown that a lack of respect for homeless people significantly contributes to keeping them on the streets. If a person is constantly treated like a lower-class citizen they begin to believe, act and live in that manner. At H.O.P.E. we believe that all people, homeless or not, deserve each others respect and that giving them this respect is an essential component of getting them off the streets. Respect fosters self-esteem, which is crucial for self-motivation - an essential, but missing ingredient in the lives of many homeless people. We aim to help people respect each other by giving them the things that they deserve and in doing so showing our acknowledgment of people so easily overlooked.
Homelessness remains a very complex issue and needs to be addressed at an individual level with a view to the long-term. H.O.P.E. will offer each willing homeless person a volunteer ‘friend’ who will assist them in formulating a plan to get off the streets. This person will also be there for support and encouragement while they are achieving their goals.
